Well, I'm going to try to put a link in here...but as you know, I'm seriously techno challenged...
This is a good project. I know the people at the Juvenile Law center, well.
So I ask any and all of you who see this to go to American Express and vote for this. YOu don't have to be a memeber. You can sign up as a guest and cast your vote. Please, please do so.
It will be a great start at giving some of our country's most disenfranchised youth a voice.....
here goes...

I went and voted. This is a great idea. I myself hope to be a foster parent one day. I'm currently single and so I can't but when I remarry (whenever that may be) I am hoping it will be to someone that shares my desire to be a foster parent and/or adopt older children.
dale,
I have no idea what the specific laws in your state are, however, many states allow single people to foster older children. Especially those who are "free for adoption"...where parental rights have been terminated. They also allow single people to adopt those same children.
All of my kids just sort of wandered in. Usually through being friends with one of the boys...
although there were a couple through the years that came through CPS, but they were informal. I have never been good with rules...*smile*...so if I couldn't have autonomy as the parent, it was probably not going to work...
But there are always kids needing a good home and structure along with love...if your heart is open, the kids will come...
That is something to check out then. I've always been under the impression that in Utah (and it is a very conservative state) you had to be a man/woman married couple in order to foster children.

Everyone wants babies or young children. It's relatively easy to find foster parents for them, but most people are realy reluctant to take teens...especially teen boys who've had problems.
When a single male applies to foster, I'm sure they look suspiciously, at first. And I imagine the interview process is pretty vigorous, they do, afterall, have tomake sure you're applying for the right reasons...*smile*....but I'm sure, even Utah, welcomes good foster parents....
Good luck withit.....
Family is who you decide it is. You really don't have to have biology to be family!!!!
